Mount Saint Vincent University Library is seeking a Reference &
Instructional Services Librarian 1 for a full-time limited-term appointment.
The term shall start as soon as possible and end June 30, 2003.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head Librarian, the incumbent's primary responsibilities
will be working regular reference shifts (including one Sunday afternoon
per month and possibly one evening per week), and providing library
instruction in a classroom setting and during one-on-one scheduled
appointments. The incumbent will also assist with ongoing projects
which presently include: organization of electronic resources such as
databases, journals and statistical data, management of the Library's
Web page, preparation and updating of library instruction
documentation, and evaluation of electronic reference resources. The
incumbent may be called upon to represent the Library and/or faculty on
university committees, and the MSVU Library on external committees.

Qualifications
This is an entry level-position. Requirements are: an ALA-accredited
MLIS with a background in the social sciences or humanities; academic
reference and library instruction experience; knowledge of a wide range
of electronic and print information resources; strong interpersonal and
communication skills; ability to work productively in a collegial
environment; initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to service; ability to
interact and communicate effectively with faculty, students, and staff;
and experience with a wide range of library technology (including Web
page design). Librarians at MSVU are part of the Faculty Association;
salary and benefits are in accordance with the Mount Saint Vincent
University Collective Agreement. This appointment is subject to final
budgetary approval.

The MSVU Library is a member of the Novanet library consortium which
uses the GEAC Advance library system. The library has a variety of
networked and stand-alone databases. The university is committed to a
