EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Fredericton
$50,000 - $65,000 per annum

Two year contract
(with possibility of renewal)

The New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation is searching for a vision and
action oriented individual with demonstrated leadership to manage the
Foundation and lead its development.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop an organization in its early
stage and help shape the future of public library service in New Brunswick.

DUTIES: Reporting to the Board of Directors of the Foundation, the
successful candidate will develop and implement a strategic and operational
plan that includes provisions for long term development, marketing and fund
raising.

Duties will include promoting the Foundation; developing close ties with the
business communities, stakeholders and staff of the public library system;
fostering partnership and sponsorship opportunities; delivering public
presentations; creating promotional materials and packages for potential
sponsors; managing the Foundation budget; organizing Board meetings; and
developing policies, procedures and programs. He or she will also be called
upon to work closely with volunteers and community groups.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal person has completed post-secondary education in
management, fundraising, marketing, communication, library and information
science, development or any other relevant field. He or she has previously
managed an organization and conducted successful fundraising/sponsorship
ventures. The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive
understanding of fundraising and development including its ethical
standards. Knowledge of e-mail, Internet, MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
are necessary. Experience working with volunteers is a definite asset. An
equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, communications and teamwork
skills and be comfortable speaking in public. The successful candidate will
have demonstrated excellent leadership skill and will be able to manage
competing priorities and deadlines. Knowledge of the New Brunswick public
library system is an asset.

The successful candidate will be in a position to work evening and weekend
hours and to travel within New Brunswick and elsewhere in Canada when
needed.

Candidates are required to demonstrate on their application how, when and
where they have acquired the skills and qualifications required for this
position. Resumés should be in chronological order specifying education and
employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment.

education and experience may be raised.

La Fondation des bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick est à la
recherche d'une personne dynamique faisant preuve de vision et de leadership
pour assurer la direction et le développement de la Fondation.

Il s'agit d'une occasion unique de développer une organisation naissante et
de contribuer à l'avenir des services de bibliothèque publique au
Nouveau-Brunswick.

FONCTIONS : Relevant du conseil d'administration, la personne choisie doit
élaborer et mettre en oeuvre un plan stratégique et opérationnel couvrant le
développement à long terme, le marketing et la levée de fonds.

Elle verra à promouvoir la Fondation; entretenir des relations étroites avec
le milieu des affaires, les intervenant(e)s et le personnel du réseau des
bibliothèques publiques; susciter les occasions de partenariat et de
commandite; effectuer des présentations publiques; élaborer le matériel
promotionnel et les trousses à l'intention des commanditaires potentiels;
gérer le budget de la Fondation; organiser les réunions du Conseil; et
élaborer des politiques, procédures et programmes. Elle devra aussi
travailler en étroite collaboration avec les bénévoles et les groupes
communautaires.

CONDITIONS DE CANDIDATURE : La personne recherchée doit avoir complété une
formation post-secondaire en gestion, en levée de fonds, en marketing, en
communication, en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l'information, en
développement ou tout autre programme de formation pertinent. Il ou elle
doit avoir déjà dirigé une organisation et mené à bien des
projets de levée de fonds ou de commandites. La personne idéale possède une
compréhension globale du secteur du développement et de la philanthropie,
ainsi que de ses normes. Il est aussi nécessaire de savoir utiliser le
courrier électronique, l'Internet et les logiciels Word, Excel et
PowerPoint. L'expérience de travail avec des bénévoles est un atout.
L'équivalent en formation et en expérience pourrait être considéré. La
connaissance, du français et de l'anglais, à l'oral et à l'écrit, est
essentielle.

Les personnes intéressées doivent posséder d'excellentes aptitudes sur le
plan des relations interpersonnelles, de la communication, du travail
d'équipe, du leadership, ainsi que de la gestion des priorités et des
échéanciers. La connaissance du réseau des bibliothèques publiques du
Nouveau-Brunswick est un atout.

La personne choisie doit être en mesure de travailler le soir et les fins de
semaine. Elle sera également appelée à voyager dans la province et le pays
au besoin.

Les personnes candidates doivent préciser dans leur demande où, quand et
comment elles ont acquis les aptitudes et les compétences nécessaires pour
ce poste. Les détails du curriculum vitae doivent être présentés en ordre
chronologique en précisant les années et les mois pour la formation et les
emplois à temps partiel ou à plein temps.
