The Department of Medical Ethics in the School of Medicine of the
University of
Pennsylvania invites applications for the position of Director, Graduate
Studies, a tenure track faculty position at the level of Associate or Full
Professor. Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials and
experience. Evidence of experience in teaching and in publication is
expected. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is
important. A Ph.D., J.D. or MD with at least three years teaching experience
in bioethics is required.
The Director, Graduate Studies will be expected to administer a large and
growing Masters program in bioethics. The position requires both teaching and
administrative skills. It is also important that the Director bring a
programmatic vision to the position since it is likely that a Ph.D. program
will be developed in the future. The Director is expected to teach at least
one
of the two core courses for the Masters degree as well as two electives each
year. Other teaching and research responsibilities are negotiable. Salary is
highly competitive.
Position will be available July 1, 2003. Applicants should send a letter
