The National Library of Canada will be presenting a ½ day workshop on basic
disaster response and preparedness for printed materials in the Halifax area
on November 14 and 15, 2002. The session will encompass appropriate disaster
supplies, characteristics of good response teams and a practical session for
salvaging and recovering wet material.
This workshop is sponsored by APLA and organized by Fisheries & Oceans
Canada, Maritimes Region, with the assistance of the Nova Scotia Provincial
Library.
The workshop can accommodate a maximum of 24 people and will be presented 3
times over 2 days. The workshop will be given in English, however, workshop
handouts can be provided in French. Please indicate your desire for French
materials when registering. It will be held at the Bedford Institute of
Oceanography (BIO) in Dartmouth and costs $50.00 per person. A minimum
number of 50 people must register and pay by October 18.

Registration is on a first come first served basis. The maximum number of
participants is 72 with a waiting list. If interest is overwhelming, there
is a possibility of a 4th workshop.
