DUTIES:
The librarian plans develops and manages the library's information systems and products designed to bring information to the desktops of the users of the Legislative Library. This includes the day to day management of the library's Dynix integrated library system the development of plans for system upgrades to meet future requirements and the development and maintenance of the library's web- based services. The librarian must maintain the library's online catalogue according to international standards and be able to lead and train technical services staff. Provides expertise and advice on the direction of information technology in the Legislative Library.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree plus post graduate degree in Library Science and five years of professional library experience. Experience with automated integrated library systems and website maintenance and development is required along with proven project management and leadership skills. Thorough knowledge of indexing and other information retrieval processes and library standards for database development is required. Must possess a working knowledge of microcomputers and a variety of software applications as well as Internet authoring languages. Must demonstrate a high level of creativity motivation and initiative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be prepared to work in a non-partisan political environment.
CLASSIFICATION RANGE: PR 13
SALARY RANGE: $42,428 - $51,576
