Part-time Archivist

20 hours per week

Duties:
The University is seeking resumes from qualified applicants who
are interested in filling a regular 20 hour/week position as Archivist
within the Library. Reporting to the Head Librarian, the Archivist is
responsible for the following duties:

Accessions and catalogues University documents in accord with
archival practice; liaises with the National Library, e.g. for the
deposit of MSVU theses; provides reference service to students,
staff and faculty doing research on various Mount activities or
history; researches and prepares periodic displays of archival
holdings; recommends improvements in the operation of the
Archives; liaises with the University community in the collection of
files which have archival value; remains current in field through
workshops/conferences provided by the Council of N.S. Archives
and related organizations; prepares annual report of archival
activities.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline is required. It
is desirable that candidates have a certificate in Archival
Management or equivalent credential along with a minimum of one
years experience in a similar position. Proficiency in word
processing in a Windows environment and database management
are prerequisites for this position. Applicants must be able to
communicate effectively, work independently and exercise good
judgment. Familiarity with the University environment and history is
an asset.

Classification: Staff Association, Level 6

Start Date: as soon as possible

Salary Range: $26,974 per annum, pro rated
