[with apologies for cross-posting]
On August 7, 2002 Communication Canada's Depository Services Program
(DSP) celebrated its 75th anniversary. Established in 1927, the DSP's
goal is to provide the public with government information.
To the library community, this partnership is vital as the DSP assists
libraries with the ability to expand their networking and
resource-sharing capabilities for government information beyond their
own local, regional and provincial networks to other geographic areas
and to other types of libraries. Most importantly, however, this
partnership ensures the efficient archiving and preservation of
government information - information that will be available to future
generations.
For additional background information and draft letters of continuing
support to the Honourable Ralph Goodale, P.C., M.P. Minister of Public
Works and Government Services and Minister responsible for Communication
