Ottawa, Ontario, June 3, 2002 -- The Feliciter and Website Advisory
Committee of the Canadian Library Association is pleased to announce the
winners of the 19th Student Article Contest. The First Prize winner is
Robin Bergart for her article entitled "An exploration of the impact of
electronic resources on undergraduate research". Robin is a graduate of
the University of Toronto FIS program. She will receive $150 and free
registration, accommodation and transportation to attend the CLA
Conference in Halifax, June 19-22 2002. As well, her article will be
published in Feliciter.
First runner-up is Michele Hopkins for her article entitled
"Possibilities: teen parents and the public library". Michele will
receive $150 cash prize and $75 in CLA publications. She is a graduate
of the University of Western Ontario MLIS program.
Second runner-up is Heather Berringer, for her article on "Business
process reengineering in the library environment". Heather will receive
$100 cash prize and $75 in CLA publications. She is a graduate of the
Dalhousie University MLIS program.
The prizes are awarded courtesy of the award sponsors: Coutts Library
Services; Micromedia ProQuest; Bowker; and the Wosk Family Bursary.
The Committee congratulates the winners and acknowledges with thanks
all who submitted entries to the contest.
CLA is the national English language association representing the
interests of all types of libraries and library workers. It was founded
in 1946 and is made up of 2800 members across five constituent
divisions: Canadian Association of College and University Libraries,
Canadian Association of Public Libraries, Canadian, Association of
Special Libraries and Information Services, Canadian Library Trustees
