"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For,
indeed, that's all who ever have." - Margaret Mead
The Canadian Library Association is at a very important and exciting
point in its history. It is making important decisions on its
direction, its services and its governance.
The Report the Commission Writing the Future, Shaping the Canadian
Library Association in the 21st Century, delivered in March 2001,
provided the blueprint: it emphasized the importance of advocacy;
continuing education and community development; and member services.
The Commission's recommendations encourage more active involvement and
participation by members in setting the direction and focus of CLA. So
let's realize the recommendations by getting involved; by making a mark
in the work of the association. Help ensure that policy makers and
other key stakeholders hear the issues that affect libraries, librarians
and information professionals.
Vacancies are now available on the following CLA committees for two
year terms commencing in June, 2002:
· Awards (Special) Committee
· CLA/Information Today Award Committee
· Copyright Committee
· Feliciter and Website Advisory Committee
· Advisory Committee on Intellectual Freedom
· Scholarships Committee
Please visit the Committees page
