The Department of Research & Library Services invites applications for a
one-year, full-time term Reference/Government Information Librarian
position to commence July 2, 2002.

Reporting to the Acting Director of Library Services, the successful
candidate will coordinate the activities of a selective federal depository
collection and full provincial government document collection and will
provide general reference and instructional services to students, faculty,
staff and the general public.

Specifically, the successful candidate will participate in all aspects of
general reference services, including instructional services, electronic
reference services and regular reference desk schedule including one
evening shift per week and one Saturday shift per month; supervise
depository collection services; catalogue government documents; maintain
and develop government information resources; have collection
responsibilities and involvement with document delivery; and other related
duties as required.

Candidates must have a MLS from an ALA-accredited program, cataloguing
experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of
print and electronic information resources, interest in working with
federal and Nova Scotia government publications and resources, ability to
create and maintain Web pages, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience working in reference or with government publications and user
instruction experience will be considered assets.

Association of University Teachers (FAUT).
