EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation

$40,000 - $65,000 per annum

The New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation, an equal opportunity
employer, is searching for a dynamic, organized and proactive individual
with demonstrated vision and leadership, to oversee the strategic direction
of its activities.

The New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation was established in 1997 by the
Province of New Brunswick.  Its mandate is to raise funds to improve the
collections of the province's network of public libraries.  The Foundation's
goal is to raise approximately $2 million over the next five years and it is
committed to being financially self sufficient by the end of the 2003-2004
fiscal year.

DUTIES:  Reporting to the New Brunswick Public Libraries Foundation Board,
the successful candidate will develop and implement a strategic plan that
includes provisions for development, marketing and fund raising. He or she
will oversee the promotion of the Foundation and maintain close ties with
the New Brunswick, Canadian and international business communities, as well
as with the stakeholders and staff of the public library system in New
Brunswick.

The Executive Director will manage the Foundation budget, organize the Board
meetings, deliver public presentations as well as develop and present
promotional materials such as packages for potential sponsors.  He or she
will also be called upon to work closely with volunteers and community
groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:  The person sought has completed post-secondary education in
fundraising, marketing, development or a relevant field and has previously
managed at least one successful fundraising campaign.  The ideal candidate
possesses excellent knowledge of the field of professional fundraising
including an understanding of the ethical standards of the industry in New
Brunswick and in Canada.  Experience with e-mail, the Internet, MS Word and
MS Excel are necessary.  Experience working with volunteers is required. An
equivalent combination of education and experience may
be considered.  Written and spoken competence in English and French is
required.

Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, communications and teamwork
skills and be comfortable speaking in public.  The successful candidate will
have demonstrated leadership skill and will be able to manage competing
priorities and deadlines.  Knowledge of the New Brunswick public library
system is an asset.

The successful candidate will be in a position to work evening and weekend
hours and to travel within New Brunswick and elsewhere in Canada when
needed.

education and experience may be raised.

La Fondation des bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick, un employeur

personne dynamique, organisée et proactive faisant preuve de vision et de
leadership pour assurer la direction  stratégique de ses activités.

La Fondation des bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick a été mise sur
pied par le gouvernement provincial en 1997.  Elle a le mandat de recueillir
des fonds afin d'améliorer la collection provinciale de documents mise à la
disposition de la population néo-brunswickoise par l'entremise du réseau des
bibliothèques publiques de la province. La Fondation planifie recueillir
près de 2 millions $ au cours des cinq prochaines années et être
autosuffisante à la fin de l'exercice financier 2003-2004.

FONCTIONS :   Relevant du conseil de fiduciaires de la Fondation des
bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick, la personne choisie devra voir
à l'élaboration et à la mise en oeuvre d'un plan stratégique global de
développement, de marketing et de levée de fonds. Elle devra voir à la
promotion de la Fondation et entretenir des relations étroites avec les
milieux des affaires néo-brunswickois, canadien et international, ainsi que
les intervenant(e)s et le personnel du réseau des bibliothèques publiques de
la province.

Le directeur général ou la directrice générale verra à gérer le budget de la
Fondation, à organiser les réunions du Conseil, à effectuer des
présentations, ainsi qu'à élaborer le matériel promotionnel tel que les
trousses à l'intention des commanditaires potentiels. Il ou elle devra aussi
travailler en étroite collaboration avec les bénévoles et les groupes
communautaires.

CONDITIONS DE CANDIDATURE : La personne recherchée doit avoir complété une
formation post-secondaire spécialisée en levée de fonds, en marketing,  en
développement ou tout autre programme de formation pertinent, ainsi qu'avoir
mené à bien au moins une campagne de levée de fonds. Elle doit aussi
posséder une excellente connaissance du secteur philanthropique et de ses
normes dans la province et au Canada. Il est aussi nécessaire de savoir
utiliser le courrier électronique, l'Internet et les logiciels MS-Word et
Excel. L'expérience de travail avec des bénévoles est essentielle.
L'équivalent en formation et en expérience pourrait être considéré. La
connaissance, du français et de l'anglais, à l'oral et à l'écrit, est
essentielle.

Les personnes intéressées doivent posséder d'excellentes aptitudes sur le
plan des relations interpersonnelles, de la communication et du travail
d'équipe.  Elles auront démontré des aptitudes au chapitre du leadership,
ainsi que de la gestion des priorités et des échéanciers. Une connaissance
du réseau des bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick serait un atout.

La personne choisie doit être en mesure de travailler le soir et les fins de
semaine. Elle sera également appelée à voyager dans la province et le pays
au besoin.

REMARQUE : Selon le nombre de candidatures à ce contrat, les exigences
relatives aux années d'expérience et à la formation peuvent être accrues.
