On January 26, 2002, the CLA Executive Council endorsed the IFLA Position on the World Trade Organization, as recommended by CLA's GATS Steering Committee. The Committe will be tabling a resolution at the Halifax AGM for the membership to endorse an official CLA statement on GATS.

To acquaint CLA members and others in the library community with the impact which GATS could have on libraries, information has been assembled on the CLA website (http://www.cla.ca/resources/gats_resources.htm) and a session is planned for the CLA conference. The Committee is also working on a GATS Toolkit which will be released prior to the CLA conference.

Members of the GATS Steering Committee (http://www.cla.ca/about/committees/gats.htm) welcome questions and comments on GATS.
