Hello Susan, there are a number of ways to get access to audio books for students who are print disabled:

The CNIB Library for the Blind sells and loans audio books to anyone who is print disabled (blind, visually impaired, disability
relating to comprehension, physical disability preventing holding a book) either directly or indirectly. If the student is blind
and are a client of the CNIB they can directly borrow any of the materials found in our catalogue. All circulating audio books
in the CNIB Library collection are currently on 4 track cassette tape which does require a 4 track tape player. If the student
is not blind but is print disabled and able to access restricted materials under the copyright act, they can indirectly access
our books via interlibrary loan. The other option, particularly for Nova Scotia is, the VISUNET CANADA Partners Program offered
by the CNIB Library. If your library participates in this (contact the Nova Scotia Provincial Library to find out) you can have
unlimited access to our collection for any print disabled student without going through ILL and the fees attached there.

We have all of the books you listed below in our collection and we have all of them except Ordinary People available for sale.

The Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA) is great resource for students who are blind or visually impaired,

Another resource is Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D) located in the US. For an annual fee (I believe $75.00 US)
students can receive materials - most of which are educational - it is well worth it considering 97% of print material is not
available to those who are print disabled - students need to use every and any resource available. Their web site is at:

Hello all,

I am currently looking for audio books for our high school library and/or
learning resources center. We have a few students who are print handicapped
and
require specific titles for a course. I am not having much luck finding them,
I
have one title currently on order from the Nova Scotia Provincial Library -
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

If any one may know where I might find these titles for loan or purchase
on audio tape it would be greatly appreciated!
