Responding to further reports of recent water damage to the National Library building and its collections, CLA President Margaret Law has written to Prime Minister Chrétien urging the federal government to build a new National Library that Canadians can take pride in.
President Law and CLA Executive Council are heartened by a report in the October 3rd issue of Ottawa Citizen that the government is considering a $1.1 billion Canadian Centre for Cultural Heritage in Ottawa that would bring together the Canadain Science and Technology Museum, the National Archives and the National Library.
