CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

WILU - The 31st Annual Workshop on Instruction in Library Use is to be held
May 13-15, 2002 on the Fredericton campus of the University of New Brunswick.

The theme for WILU 2002 is River Run: Trends in Library Instruction.The
steering committee seeks proposals for presentations, panel discussions,
and workshops from experienced presenters who will discuss and explore, in
depth, the future directions of library instruction. The last few years
have witnessed some significant developments in library instruction.
Familiar examples include ACRL initiatives, online courses,
hiring of instruction / information literacy librarians, focussed workshops
and online professional development opportunities. Where are these
developments leading us and how do we direct our future path within the
library community and our institutions?

It is anticipated that most members of the audience will be librarians from
educational institutions. Topics may include, but are not limited to, the
following:
• ACRL guidelines for instruction
• Library instruction, web-based courses and technology
• Library instruction for interdisciplinary courses
• Professional development for instruction librarians in the online academy
• Professional (Institutional?) recognition of the role of libraries and
librarians in contemporary instruction
• Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of new instructional paradigms
• How are library schools preparing students to be instruction librarians?
And /or, how are library schools responding to developments in library
instruction?

Submissions and presentations are welcomed in either English or French.

Stand-alone sessions are currently planned to be approximately 75 minutes
long which includes time for questions and discussion. Individual panel
presentations will be shorter.

Online submissions may be made by November 1, 2001 at the WILU 2002 website
(http://flay.hil.unb.ca/WILU/). Detailed submission instructions are
available online.

APPEL DE COMMUNICATIONS

Le 31e Atelier annuel sur la formation documentaire (AAFD) aura
lieu à l’Université du Nouveau-Brunswick (Fredericton), du 13 au 15
mai 2002.

Le thème de cet atelier 2002 est « La formation documentaire : au
fil du courant ».

Le comité directeur invite des conférenciers expérimentés à
soumettre des propositions de communication, de discussions en
table ronde et d’ateliers où sera discuté et exploré en profondeur
l’avenir de la formation documentaire. Au cours des dernières
années, nous avons été témoins d’importantes réalisations dans le
domaine de la formation documentaire. Voici des exemples de ces
accomplissements : projets de l’ACRL, cours en ligne, embauche
de bibliothécaires pour la formation documentaire, ateliers ciblés et
possibilités de perfectionnement professionnel en ligne. Où ces
réalisations nous mènent-elles et comment pouvons-nous orienter
à l’avenir notre cheminement au sein de la communauté des
bibliothèques et de nos établissements? Il est prévu que la plupart
des participants seront des bibliothécaires d’établissements de
formation.

Les sujets peuvent inclure, mais non de façon limitative, les
suivants :

o Lignes directrices de l’ACRL pour la formation
o Formation documentaire, cours sur le web et la technologie
o Formation documentaire pour les cours interdisciplinaires
o Perfectionnement professionnel pour les bibliothécaires
dispensant une formation documentaire en ligne
o Reconnaissance professionnelle (institutionnelle) du rôle des
bibliothèques et des bibliothécaires dans la formation moderne
o Évaluations quantitative et qualitative des nouveaux paradigmes
de la formation documentaire.
o Les écoles de bibliothéconomie comment préparent-ils les
étudiants à devenir des enseignants de formation documentaire?
Les écoles de bibliothéconomie répondent-elles aux nouvelles
réalisations en formation documentaire?

Les présentations et les soumissions peuvent être présentées en
anglais ou en français.

Même s’il est prévu que les exposés des conférenciers seront
d’une durée de 75 minutes (compris de la présentation et la
discussion résultante), les présentations des membres des tables
rondes seront d’une plus courte durée.

Prière de soumettre ses propositions d’ici le premier novembre 2001 au
site web WILU 2002 (http://flay.hil.unb.ca/WILU/). On peut obtenir
des directives détaillées sur les présentations en ligne.
