The University of Regina is seeking an experienced and innovative
librarian with a strong commitment to client service to coordinate
reference and instructional services across the University of Regina
Library System, including the Dr. John Archer Library and the
Education/Fine Arts Library.
The Head, Reference and Instructional Services will:
Demonstrate leadership in the areas of faculty liaison and
outreach.
Work to create an infrastructure that will foster partnerships
with client groups.
Develop, deliver and assess a range of innovative reference and
instructional services that anticipate the needs of the university
community within a rapidly changing technological environment.
Supervise and coordinate the reference and instructional
activities of 23 staff in the Dr. John Archer Library and the
Education/Fine Arts Library.
Initiate and implement training programs in the areas of reference
and instruction.
Assess and recommend resource requirements across Reference and
Instructional Services.
Participate in planning, budget allocation and policy development.
Provide collections selection and assessment support in assigned
subject areas.
The successful candidate will have:
An MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited programme or equivalent.
At least four to five years experience as a proven administrator
in the areas of human resource management and client service provision.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
This position will be filled at a rank and salary commensurate with
experience and qualifications. Librarians are members of the University
of Regina Faculty Association and are encouraged to take part in
scholarship, research or professional activities. Librarians are also
involved in planning as members of Library and University councils and
committees.
