I am a Librarian working in the Technical Library of an oil firm. Actually it is
a different thing from what is obtainable in a normal Library set up.
In this set up, you find it difficult to apply the DDC scheme to most of the
special materials which we normarlly work on from time to time.
Such materials include Engineering Drawings, Well Log , Contractors proposals,
Well Report, Project Databooks, Equipment Manuals, and lot of them.
Here we had to device an IN-HOUSE Classification scheme to accommodate these
Another problem is writing your weekly report which should be in line with the
mother company which is engineering orientated, dealing with one project or the
other. And you as a librarian, you do not have any project on hand than the
normal daily routine of providing technical information to these Engineers
working on various projects.
I would like somebody who have worked in such an environment to give a clue on
how weekly report should be presented.
Bearing in mind that you are to write it as if you are handling a project.
