DUTIES
The Library Assistant is responsible for the MARC cataloguing, original and copy, of library materials including books and periodicals indexing of newspaper clippings and maintaining several databases using library software. Other duties include the production of current awareness services for the MLAs and caucus staff as well as recommending changes for the improvement of existing library databases.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade XII plus completion of a Library Assistant course plus 4 years related experience or an acceptable equivalent. Experience in MARC cataloguing and DB/Textworks software is required as well as a sound knowledge of standard library cataloguing and classification practices. Experience with DYNIX library software and a working knowledge of French would be an asset. The successful candidate must have strong computer skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve, and maintain high standards of accuracy as well as the ability to work in a non-partisan political environment.
CLASSIFICATION RANGE TE 16
SALARY RANGE $27,147 - $31,609
