Information Literacy and Cataloguing Librarian
The University of Windsor's Leddy Library invites applications for a
tenure-track information literacy and cataloguing librarian position. We
seek an innovative, dynamic professional with key leadership skills to
provide effective web-based user education programs and efficient
bibliographic access to Leddy Library's physical and digital library
collections. Responsibilities will include cataloguing, as well as
contributing to the development of library policies that support
information literacy and bibliographic access. The successful candidate
will possess the initiative, creativity, and strong communication and
interpersonal skills necessary to develop, promote, and deliver effective
library programs to both onsite and remote users. As well, the candidate
will contribute to efficient bibliographic access through improved
cataloguing workflow design and project management.
Reporting to the Head, Reference Services, the successful candidate will be
joining a dynamic team and will be expected to contribute to the overall
planning and management of library services, as well as to
provincial/national consortial activities.
A Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited
school, or equivalent qualifications, is required. The ideal candidate will
have experience evaluating and using electronic resources and an in depth
knowledge of technological applications and automation in academic
libraries. A demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, MARC coding, LCSH, Library of
Congress Classification, and demonstrated skill in the use of Web authoring
tools are required. Preferred qualifications include cataloguing
experience, experience working with government documents, geospatial and
numerical datafiles, and the CODOC classification scheme. Knowledge of
French and other languages is also desirable. Rank will be commensurate
with experience. The starting date will be July 1st, 2001.
