The position will be located either at Truro Campus or the Metro Halifax Campuses.
OUR OPPORTUNITY: You will be responsible for managing the centralized public services function. You will provide centralized reference support service for Regional Librarians and end users, including distance education students. You will identify print and electronic resources for reference collections and develop and deliver training sessions to library staff on reference sources and techniques. You will monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire reference service function for both the centralized site and on campuses. You will also plan for programs and services that enhance information literacy throughout the College. As a member of the Library Service senior management team, you will contribute to the development of policies and strategic directions.
YOUR CREDENTIALS: You have a Master of Library Science and Information Science from an ALA accredited university, combined with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in a public services function. A significant proportion of your occupational experience has been in an academic environment. You also possess experience in the design, development and maintenance of web sites, in-depth knowledge of electronic information and full text services. Your knowledge of bibliographic instruction concepts and techniques, coupled with your excellent communication skills, make you an ideal candidate. As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your strong work ethic and your commitment to excellence.
