Director of Ethics

Trinity Health, the third largest Catholic healthcare system in the
country based on net patient revenue, currently has an opening for a
Director of Ethics.  This position is located at our offices in Farmington
Hills, Michigan.

Responsibilities include:  to provide leadership and assistance to
governance, management and employees in integrating Trinity Health mission
and values into all aspects of the organization, including orientation,
planning, budgeting, human resource policies, leadership development,
legal and advocacy, etc., with special attention to ethical process in
acute care, long-term care, home care, hospice and managed care.  Works
with Trinity Health subsidiaries and system offices to identify and make
explicit the mission and values dimensions of issues and to address,
establish and work through a process to address these dimensions and
develop means for monitoring the results.

The applicant must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the
Roman Catholic tradition and its social justice teaching as it relates to
its stance on health care.  Must have a working knowledge of ethics to be
able to assist in establishing the values at stake in decisions, policies
and practices, identifying any conflicts that exist, and reching
appropriate conclusions.  A Ph.D. in Ethics or a related field, as well as
experience in healthcare organizations and management is preferred.
