The Veterans Affairs Canada Library seeks an enthusiastic, qualified
candidate to fill the position of Departmental Librarian for a period of
90 working days, beginning immediately.
The successful applicant will hold a master’s degree from an
ALA-accredited institution and must be able to work independently while
performing the duties related to managing a federal government library
including acquisitions, cataloguing, reference, research, interlibrary
loans, and marketing of library services. Additionally, the incumbent
will be responsible for training and supervising two part-time student
assistants.
Located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Veterans Affairs Canada
is the federal government department responsible for providing services
and benefits to Canadian veterans and their families. Through its
publications and annual events such as Veterans Week, VAC also works to
educate the public about the sacrifices and achievements of Canadian
veterans. The Library collection is especially strong in the areas of
legislation, medicine (especially psychiatry and rehabilitation), and
